Our Wedding

It all began in December 2021, at an ugly-sweater Christmas potluck dinner at the house of our mutual friend. At the time, neither one went to the event expecting to meet anyone — but The Lord had other plans...

Our Story

Anthony made the "first move" by trying to talk to Allyn — just small talk and laughing about all the funny sweaters some of the other guests were wearing. Allyn recalls being oblivious to Anthony’s interest at the time, she thought he was just being friendly as people do at social gatherings. But it’s probably for the best because their interactions that evening were natural without expectations. That evening, Anthony and Allyn kept finding themselves around each other - according to Anthony, "it's because Anthony was following her around". When Allyn sat down at the dinner table, Anthony chose the seat right next to her. When Allyn went to play a game with her friend, Anthony was there ready to challenge. He was charming, playful, and ever-present—&nbsp;characteristics that are still true today. By the end of the night as Allyn was getting ready to leave, one of her oldest friends gave her a much-needed nudge — pointing out that Anthony’s attention wasn’t just friendliness, it was interest. And thankfully, that little realization made all the difference. While Allyn was apprehensive about going on a date — having just started her graduate program for a Master’s in Public Health — something told her to say "yes".

Their first date was axe-throwing in Redmond.&nbsp;Allyn remembers how easy it was to talk to Anthony — and the kindness his eyes held.&nbsp;Given that she once had a stint “working on eyes,” it’s something she remains keenly attentive to even now.&nbsp;That night while bantering and coming up with creative ways to throw sharp things, started what would be the rest of their lives together. Allyn remembers how significant it was that Anthony was incredibly supportive of her decision to work full-time while also attending graduate school full-time. Anthony saw that, even with her [very] limited time, Allyn spent her time around him and together they grew their relationship. As an added plus, Anthony had also undergone a similar experience while he completed his Masters in Speech Therapy, so he "got it". At the same time, Anthony was serving in the Army Reserves, which meant one of those weekends each month was spent at drill.&nbsp;But the time they spent together — then and now — has always been so special to them.

As their relationship continued to grow, they found shared interests in activities like going on hikes, camping, eating out at new restaurants, and spending time with family. Trips to Arizona, Lake Kachess, Mt. Rainer, and Mt. Baker, Scotland, Uganda, made for lasting memories. Allyn and Anthony decided to add a new adventure partner to the mix and picked up their puppy, Ollie, from Fall City. With Ollie, their outdoor excursions and weekend trips became even more frequent and exciting. . And&nbsp;what had been just “Anthony and Allyn” started to feel like it was becoming something more and they began talking about what they wanted for the future. Fast forward to the day of the proposal. The simple story is this:&nbsp;Anthony thoughtfully orchestrated a proposal that was intimate and personal, capturing everything he and Allyn value most. Surrounded by nature, Anthony asked Allyn for a forever together. It was a day full of time together, time with family and friends, and, of course, time outside. Together, we look forward to having you at our wedding, surrounded by friends and family, in our favorite place ﻿– Outside.

Travel to Vashon Island

This well curated store and farm contains a great selection of books, foods, garden supplies and exceptional clothing choices. Th farm has U-pick berries in season with a full organic garden. Kids can play and there are picnic tables and adirondack chairs for hanging out. Also on the property is a nice garden shop , Little Bird ; a vintage clothing store, Agnes &amp; Chole, &amp; a cool barber van, C'Mon Barber. The staff are all really nice.

Country Store & Farm

Point Robinson Park is considered to be one of the jewels of Vashon Island. The Island's first fog signal was built here in 1885, along with a "Keeper's Dwelling," a barn, and a chicken coop. Quarters B was constructed in 1908, the oil house was added in 1913, and Quarters A was constructed in 1917.&nbsp;The Point Robinson Lighthouse was built in 1914 by the U.S. Bureau of Lighthouses and is still a working lighthouse. You can see the Fresnel lens in action during one of Captain Wubbold's (USCG, ret.) insightful lighthouse tours.

Head Keeper's Quarters

Nine-hole golf course offering public play some days, plus swimming, tennis, and pickleball courts. For "the GOLFers": We have an excellent golf special for non-members on Saturdays in May. Two golfers can play 18 holes with a power cart and each get hamburgers, a bag of chips, and a beer for $99. Must call to book a tee time and use the phrase "golf on the rock". Tee times will be available after 10 a.m.

Vashon Island Golf & Country Club

Maury Island, right off Vashon Island, is home to multiple green spaces for visitors to spend time outside, including&nbsp;<a href="https://www.wta.org/go-hiking/hikes/maury-island-marine-park" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Maury Island Marine Park</a>. Maury Island Natural Area used to be a sand and gravel mine, but has since been acquired by the county and is now a park for the public to enjoy (similar to Richmond Beach Park where Allyn grew up and did volunteer restoration work). The natural area sits near Maury Island Marine Park, with a mile-long shore&nbsp;— the longest single undeveloped stretch along the Puget Sound in King County. Discover this 3.4-mile loop trail near Vashon, Washington. Generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 1 h 33 min to complete. This is a popular trail for birding, hiking, and mountain biking, but you can still enjoy some solitude during quieter times of day. The best times to visit this trail are February through September. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash.

Maury Island Natural Area

A bike abandoned in 1954 was consumed by a tree! So, the tree essentially scabbed over and grew with the bicycle inside of it. This scab is showcased by the layer of bark between the bicycle and the inside of the tree. Frog Holler Forest is part of a long term partnership with the Vashon-Maury Island Land Trust to protect more than 500 acres of forest on the south end of Vashon Island. The Forest was acquired with funding from Washington State Department of Ecology, King County Conservation Futures and King County Parks Levy funds. The Pacific Tree Frog or Chorus Frog is the smallest and most common frog in the Pacific Northwest.&nbsp;Tree frogs can range in color from bronze brown to light lime green.
